Mickey and the lovely Minnie Mouse starred {first | early on |in their first movie together in the funny Plane Crazy, was first shown on May 15, 1928. The movie was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks.Ub Iwerks was also the top animator for this short, and reportedly spent six weeks working on it. In fact, Iwerks was the chief animator for all of Disneys short released in 1928 and 1929. Mainly Harman and Ising also helped Walt Disney during those years. Although they were signing their contracts with Charles Mintz, but he was still in the process of forming his new studio and so for the time being they were still working for and employed by walt. This short would be the final movie they animated under this somewhat awkward situation.
