Vintage Mickey Mouse Collectables

The word VINTAGE when used for Mickey Mouse Collectables is normally for Mickey Mouse Collectors items and costumes (yes people DO collect older Mickey Mouse Costumes ) made or sold before 1968
To easily identify Vintage Mickey Mouse collectables you really do have to do some research on the various models of Mickey throughout the years.
The earliest Mickey was Steamboat Willie where Mickey is crew on a steamboat.
This shows Mickey with a rather pointed face and smaller eyes.
He usually wears short red pants and white gloves.
Minnie has changed quite a lot over the years
(but they have been very kind to her..)
To see vintage Mickey for yourself please look at our early videos on this website or on Youtube.
You can see that Mickey appears as a Cowboy,Bandleader or Aviator.
Toys (especially Tinplate Toys) of any of these models of Mickey are quite rare and collectable.If you find one DO NOT try to renovate or repaint it as collectors like them in original condition (that includes a bit of rust !)
Several companies now make replicas of Vintage Mickey Mouse Toys and costumes.
If you are buying at an auction or off a website please ensure the word AUTHENTIC is included in the description.
Not all Disney Collectables appear at the same time.
People find them in Attics,Fleamarkets and yard sales and the first place they try to sell them is on eBay.

In the 1960s Ingersoll became Timex which has grown to be a huge international company.
They produced both Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Watches in co-operation with Disney.

Mickey Mouse watches vary in price according to condition and as these were fairly inexpensive, many were given to children and have seen the ravages of time.

Many collectors love the Bradley Mickey Mouse Watch.
These have now been retired and collectors like to get them in mint condition.
It is unusual to find a Bradley watch that really IS in mint condition
In the 1950s Disney and Bradley brought out a range of character watches.
Bradley watches had excellent precision Swiss movements and this is one of the features
that collectors really desire.
There are fakes around so beware - the word SWISS must appear on the back of the watch
and Bradley is on the face of real Bradley watches.
As Bradley used graphite oil on these wind-up watches it is fairly easy to get them repaired.
Any competent watchmaker should be able to get even a non-runner going again.
One of the things to look for is a scratched dial. The dials on bradley watches were easily scratched and this serously lowers the value of a bradley watch.
One of the other things to look for in a bradley mickey mouse watch is the strap. These are often quite worn and although you could always replace the strap with a new leather one,collectors really want the original strap in good condition.

Ingersoll were the first company that partered with Disney to produce Mickey Mouse Watches.
These were great sellers for both companies.
The Ingersoll watches are very collectable and they still work today !
