Mickey Mouse and Minnie starred {first | early on |in their first debuted in the short Plane Crazy, which was screened first on May 15, 1928. The cartoon was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Iwerks was also thefirst animator for this short, and reportedly spent six weeks working on it. The Rumour was , Iwerks was the chief Artist for all Disney short released in 1928 and 1929. Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising also aided Disney at the start of the Disney career. Although they were signing their contracts with Charles Mintz, but he was still in the process of forming his new studio and so for the time being they were still working for and employed by walt. This cartoon would be the final movie they animated under this somewhat awkward situation.
