Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse starred {first | early on |in their first debuted in the funny Plane Crazy, first released on May 15, 1928. The movie was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Iwerks was also the top animator for this short, and reportedly spent six weeks working on it. The Rumour was , Iwerks was the main animator for all Walt Disney short released in 1928 and 1929. Mainly Harman and Ising also assisted Disney in the early years. They had already signed their contracts with Charles Mintz, but he was still in the process of forming his new studio and so for the time being they were still employed by walt. This cartoon would be the final movie they animated under this somewhat awkward situation.
