Mickey Mouse and Minnie starred made their first appearance in the Movie Plane Crazy, which was screened first on May 15, 1928. The movie was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Iwerks was also theprimary animator for this short, and reportedly spent six weeks working on it. It is said, Iwerks was the main Cartoonist for everyWalt Disney short released in 1928 and 1929. Mainly Harman and Ising also helped Disney during those years. Although they were signing their contracts with Charles Mintz, but he was still in the process of forming his new studio and so for the time being they were still employed by Disney. This cartoon would be the final movie they animated under this somewhat awkward situation.
