The kid is Sora, He is special for reasons that the Kingdom Hearts game would explain.

Why Goofy, Donald, and a whole bunch of Disney characters are in Kingdom Hearts? Because it was a partnership between Square Enix and Disney.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie starred {first | early on |in their first made their first appearance in the film Plane Crazy, which was released on May 15, 1928. The short was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Iwerks was also the top animator for this short, and reportedly spent six weeks working on it. The Rumour was , Iwerks was the first Cartoonist for all of Disneys short released in 1928 and 1929. Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising also helped Walt Disney during those years. Although they were signing their contracts with Charles Mintz, but he was still in the process of forming his new studio and so for the time being they were still working for and employed by walt. This cartoon would be the final movie they animated under this somewhat awkward situation.
